Nothing like a few speed tickets to remind you that you have to be more careful with the throttle or you will have to surrender your driving license before you know it.
So after having been catched more than necessary in the early 2007 I decided that my car needed some audio feedback to notify me when going over the speed limits. I was envisioning buzzer and leds directly integrated inside the steering wheel of my green 1997 Xantia. The reality downgraded the prototype ambition but I have been more than happy building it and learning more about electronics, microcontroller programming and GPS interfacing.
Now I have a new car equipped with a cruise control so I don’t really have a use for my project anymore… Nonetheless the original idea was to go all the way to a “real” product. So I will try now to transform my breadboard prototype into a shiny PCB in a pretty case.
My following posts will document my journey to the final product describing both the hardware and software aspects.
